It's Friday night

And I'm feeling alright...

Yeah. So, we got back from a birthday party not too long ago, it was really nice to get out and socialize with other adults. We don't get out much and when we do, it's usually just the two of us. I made enchiladas for the party, which was my first solo attempt at them. I think they tasted just like my mom's, which is what I was going for. She didn't leave me feeling very confident in my ability to do that ("Wouldn't you be better off just making tostadas?") but I guess that's just the way she is. I love my mother and appreciate all she has done and does for me, but I really hope that is not a trait I've picked up on, for my children's sake.

Things are going okay for us. John would really like a better job, but with this economy and him not having a degree, it's not so great. Even if he had a degree... looking at jobs I've seen so many openings for people with PhD's or several years of very specific experience. But, something's gotta give. His parents will be moving in a couple of months so our expenses are going to go up. We're going to be looking for someplace to live and some affordable daycare at that time. So fun...

The kids are great. Preston is always learning something new, and so is Nadia. She is such a great big sister, always helping us out. Preston likes it sometimes, other times he just gets mad and pushes her away. They bring such joy to my life every day, I can't imagine my life if I were not a mother.

Oh, sábanas means sheets. Get it? Ha ha. A lot of Marines called John by that name over the years.
